Catalogs are the way to get products into the re:nable platform. Typically you would set up one catalog for each of your stores and markets.

Each catalog contains a number of settings

  • A product feed of some kind that is imported every hour.

  • An optional review feed that is imported daily or weekly.

  • A connection to a Google Analytics GA4 property from where we import statistics on what your top products are. This allows you to create product sets with your best-selling products and create special ad creative for those.

  • What content enrichment features and AI image processing models to apply for these products.

  • Optional AI prompts to use for writing ad creative for all the products in this catalog.

  • Information about localization and currencies.

Product feed

A catalog imports a product feed of some kind every hour.

We can import products from these sources:

Review feed

A catalog can optionally import reviews that your customers have written for your products.

These reviews will then be used by Aimée to create ad creative, specifically by selecting the best text fragments from the best reviews for each product. This lets you use review quotes and scores in your marketing, which can boost its performance quite significantly.

We can import reviews from these sources:

  • A URL to a feed in Google Product Review format. This is the same format as used by the Google Merchant Center / Google Shopping, and is commonly available as plugins from many eCommerce systems. We import these review feeds once every day.

  • From Bazaarvoice by using an API key that you create using this guide. Due to limitations in Bazaarvoice's API it may take upwards of 1 week before all reviews for all products have been imported.

  • From Gamifiera by contacting their support and asking them to upload your reviews to re:nable via FTP.

  • From TestFreaks by contacting their support and asking them for your Client ID and an API key. We import and update these reviews every day.

  • From Trustpilot by using a Business Unit ID and API key that you create using this guide. Due to limitations in Trustpilots API it may take upwards of 1 week before all reviews for all products have been imported.

  • From Yotpo by using an App Key and a Secret Key that you create using this guide. We import and update these reviews every day.

Features

This section lets you toggle what global features and settings to activate for the products in this catalog.

Settings include:

  • Automatically remove the background from product images thus making the image transparent. This lets you use templates to put nice colors and graphics behind the product.

  • Automatic image categorization looks at the images and tries to decide what type it is. The image types are

    • Award images would could be an expert review image that indicates your product has received some award, for example a "Best is test" badge or some other badge or logo.

    • Feature images are usually zoomed in and close up images of some particular product feature. Not normally used in ads, but useful as a fallback in case an image has been misclassified by Aimée.

    • Lifestyle images would usually showcase your product in a very natural looking setting. Often used in ads with some minimal graphical overlays on top, e.g. adding the price.

    • Product images show just your product on a neutral or white background. Aimée will automatically remove the background from images classified as this type.

    • Staged images usually showcase your product in a studio setting, featured on a model or staged in some other way. Often used in ads with some minimal graphical overlays on top, e.g. adding the price.

  • Automatically extracting ad copy from product descriptions is useful when you already have quite good products descriptions and just want to pick out a short fragment from it and use that in ads.

  • Automatically summarize product descriptions is useful when you already have quite good products descriptions and just want writes a shorter fragment from it and use that in ads.

  • Automatically infer Google categories when your product feed doesn't have any g:google_product_category field included.

  • Using reviews from all product variants with the same g:item_group_id ensures that reviews are considered regardless of which variant (color, size, ..) they were written on.

  • Background remover model lets you change which version of the background removal model is used by default. You can test the different versions by clicking on an image and applying the different models from the ... menu and verifying the result. In general

    • V1 consumes little processing power, but is mainly geared towards product images with a perfectly white background.

    • V2 can handle most any kind of image really well. But may sometimes remove a bit too much, especially from product packages and cartons. It also the background remove that consumes most computing power.

    • V3 can handle most product images well. Compared to V1 is will handle backgrounds that are colored or shaded in some way. If V1 is struggling with your product images you might like to try V3 or failing that then try V2.

Prompts

This lets you add prompts that will always be executed on the products from this catalog, regardless of what project is being processed.

A note about our various features and your cost.

The various features in our platform consume computing power, which is our cost for delivering the service to you. Some features, especially; GPT prompting, video generation, and v2 background remover require a lot of computing power, and are thus more expensive for us to run. Our Pricing Tiers have been set generously, based on a reasonable usage of all features for each Tier’s number of products. However, repetitive and extended misuse of our platform will cause significant overspending, which may, in worst cases, block further product processing for your account. If that happens, you will be notified. Read more about how to avoid overuse in our pricing FAQ, under the question "How can I reduce my cost?".
